Hi, friends!

I wanted to share a few tips today on how to style your bed like a pro. While there are a lot of different ways to make your bed feel luxe, Pinterest-worthy, and like a cloud you never want to move from, I’m going to go over a few basics as building blocks for you!

BEGIN WITH THE BASICS

My personal favorite is to start with clean, white linen sheets and plenty of sleep pillows. If you have a king bed, make sure you invest in king pillows that span the width of the bed vs. standard-size pillows. Opt for at least 4 bed pillows total (2 for each side) and have at least 2 sets of sheets to rotate when you need to wash a set. I like crisp, white sheets because they’re easy to wash and allow you to play with other colors or textures in your next few bedding layers. When possible, opt for deep pocket sheets which are so much easier to put on and keep your sheets from moving around. You can also invest in a fluffy down cover insert to help you layer the textiles in the following steps.

ADD CONTRASTING LAYERS

A lightweight quilt with some nice texture to it is a great option next. After this layer, I like to add a duvet. In the cooler months, this will add an additional layer of warmth when you’re sleeping, or you can fold it back when it’s time for bed. When making the bed, we recommend folding it in half or in thirds to get the extra fluffy look!

INCLUDE THROW PILLOWS

A tip I learned early on with throw pillows is to opt for either a triangle of a “pillow V”, which basically means you want your larger pillows in the back and your smallest pillows in the front.

Look for euro shams, grounding pillows, and a lumbar pillow to accomplish this simply. Varying the texture and pattern is also an added bonus!

LOOSELY LAYER A THROW BLANKET

As an added bonus, adding a throw blanket at the end of the bed is another way to keep adding layers to complete your bed’s look. You can play around with colors, textures, patterns, and embellishments as it’s kind of like the cherry on top!
